Inspiration at last!

Hey there Adoring Community!

For the past few days I've been feeling kind of low. I just haven't felt the urge to work on BATMAN EXTREME ULTRA, and also as of late I've felt an overwhelming longing for the past... specifically, my former career: Time Traveling Master Artist. Difficult to comprehend, I know, but as I've pointed out before and realized early on in my exploration of the universe as a whole, time is an illusion. This knowledge allowed me to invent a working time machine, which I then used to travel back in time to tutor budding artists in their craft! The Rennaissance? Yeah, that was all me.

After taking Caravaggio (who was to be the last of my apprentices) under my wing, I was simply exhausted. Even a man so prolific as myself can tire of the art world after a certain amount of strain. It wasn't entirely my fault though - the people I taught were so obstinate in their refusal to learn!

I mean, you'd be disheartened too, if after years of work your students churned out shit like this!*

But, as the old addage says, "to dwell in the past is to teach all of the rennaissance masters and then some before realizing they're all a bunch of jerks and then being underappreciated in the comics community even though you taught the freaking rennaissance masters," or however it goes. So here is some artwork from another comic I'm working on - this time it's an adaptation of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," where Wonka is a burly superhero who saves the people of his land from an oppressive ruler who despises freedom!

Also, Charlie is a cyborg boy with the soul of a girl!

*Don't even get me started on Francesco de Goya. He was totally UNBEARABLE to be around, and when I last visited him he had the gall to use the rough draft of one of my earliest comics, BLOODLET KILLTHIRST, as a substitute for wood in his fireplace! I mean the nerve of that guy! I'll bet he went deaf and crazy because he realized what a horrible mistake he'd made. >:(

Turning over a New Leaf

I have decided that I have been quite unfair in recent years. Keeping my amazing talent all to myself is a horrible thing to do to the world, but I am willing to make up for past sins.

This said, I am going to do anything and everything I can to critique the artwork of those less fortunate than myself!

Watch out, internet! You are about to blasted at point-blank range with AWESOME (me)

Batman for the New Generation?

Hey True Believers, this is a preliminary sketch of my upcoming comic, Batman Extreme Ultra! It is a gritty take on the Dark Knight that takes place in the near future, where Bruce Wayne has given up the role and passed it down to a young Cyborg teenager with a cybernetic eye that can see into the future and past! Also, Robin is now a girl! How's that for thinking outside of the box?!

Love Always,
Rob Liefeld

Dear Livejournal,

Today I decided that I would partake in an INTERNET ADVENTURE! On a whim, I used this "google" page to look up my own name, and boy am I miffed!

At first I was happy to find out that I am mentioned in several places (did you know that there is an online encyclopedia called "wikipedia" that has me listed? They have everything on the internet today!) but boy oh boy, everybody's a critic!

I mean, everyone's perfectly content to critique my work, but what do they have to show of their OWN? If you can't draw, then you are not allowed to say anything at ALL.

Also, the golden rule everyone forgets about: IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE TO SAY, DON'T SAY ANYTHING AT ALL. :)

PS I will post artwork later for various comic books I am working on. Stay tuned! ;)
